Eden Locke is a 72 room apart-hotel, the new lifestyle serviced apartment hotel in Edinburgh.Edinburgh's NewTown is well over 200 years old and is a UNESCO Heritage Site which is lined with rows of Georgian Mansions and Terraces.The designers have utilised the beauty of light and the proportional balance of spaces,typical of Georgian buildings,beautifully and created a sapce that oozes out serenity or "Sophisticated Tropical" according to them.
In the ground-floor cafe and bar area, green-painted walls are paired with a variety of wicker furniture and knitted floor cushions. Terracotta pots filled with greenery are dotted between.All the furniture were designed by the designers.
A pop of yellow amidst all the greenery in the form of pendant lighting adds a soothing effect to the whole place.Bent wood,cane,wicker and terra cotta are mixed beautifully with brass,stone,steel and plenty of plants.
Pale walls paired with white chairs with white long pendant lights dangling from gridded wooden ceiling adds calming effect to the space in one corner.
Half Pink and half Gray on the walls is another nod for joining two eras aesthetically.
Instead of making the room revolve around a bed, the room has been divided into two levels.The designers cleverly designed the living areas in the light and lofty spaces of the older structure fully utilizing the period fenestration, while bedrooms occupy the smaller newer space.
The two levels are linked by a staircase which wraps the bathroom and kitchen at the centre of the suite and leads up to the bedroom. A bespoke wardrobe doubles as a balustrade within rooms where the height changes.
